MTS to launch nationwide smartphone sale under subscription on Sat
MOSCOW, Nov 29 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operator MTS will start selling smartphones under subscription from Saturday in its offices all across the country for its clients, a company spokesperson said on Thursday.
Buyers will pay a fixed monthly amount for a smartphone by covering in total half of its price during 12 months and then will be able to exchange the device for a new one with subscription payments continued.
If a client wants to keep the device after a year of subscription, the remaining half of the price should be paid within six months.
To use the service, a client will sign a credit agreement with MTS Bank with no interest payments. The buyer gets a 10% discount for mobile connection, and a monthly fee is charged from a mobile account.
The spokesperson said that the 12-month program will apply to Samsung smartphones at the first stage. At the beginning of 2019, the service will be expanded to Apple, Huawei and other manufacturers, and users will be able to subscriber for the service for 24 months.
